Old Town San Diego State Historic Park

In 1800s Mexico, this section of San Diego was a thriving metropolis, as it is where the entire city of San Diego was born. Now, you can enjoy the best Mexican food around as well as several original adobes, a schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, carriage collection and a museum filled with artifacts, all uncovered by archeologists in the Old Town area!

USS Midway

This decommissioned aircraft carrier served from 1945-1992 has been turned into a huge museum, offering a glimpse into life on board a floating city. Docents are stationed throughout the ship to answer questions and share trivia – some of them even served aboard the ship while it was active. The main deck includes flight simulators and a moving film called “Voices of the Midway.” The flight deck boasts a range of aircraft available for exploring.

Cabrillo National Monument

Located on Point Loma, the monument is a tribute to Juan Rodriquez Cabrillo, who landed in San Diego Bay in 1542 during his voyage from Portugal. Not only does this site offer a museum all about Cabrillo’s exploits and explorations, but you’ll also find the Old Point Loma Lighthouse and spectacular views of the bay and skyline.

The birthplace of Vista, California, the site used to be roamed by Native Americans – specifically the Luisenos and Dieguenos tribes. With more than 4100 historic items on display at the complex, you’re sure to find something to intrigue your mind!
